Workforce development

A skilled, inclusive and research-ready workforce is essential to delivering high-quality commercial research across Greater Manchester.

We are working with our partner organisations and the Greater Manchester research eco-system to develop our people with the skills and confidence they need alongside effective systems that support safe, efficient and timely study delivery.

By bringing together expertise from across our network, we aim to strengthen research capability, improve collaboration and create more opportunities for patients and communities to take part in commercial research.

How we are delivering this

We will:

  • Identify workforce training and capability needs across partner organisations.
  • Develop shared competency frameworks and training programmes to build consistent skills and standards.
  • Support staff to work safely and effectively across different organisations, services and care settings.
  • Embed inclusive research practices throughout our workforce to ensure research is accessible and representative.
  • Share learning and best practice with regional and national CRDC partners.
  • Improve feasibility, study set-up and study delivery processes through workforce development and collaboration.
  • Expand research activity across specialties, multiple sites and community-based settings.
  • Increase the number of Principal Investigators (PIs) and Chief Investigators (CIs) leading and delivering studies across the CRDC:GM network.

Through a collaborative approach, CRDC: GM is strengthening commercial research delivery across Greater Manchester.

By investing in our workforce and creating opportunities for learning and leadership, we will improve access to research studies, support innovation in healthcare and help bring new treatments and technologies to patients more quickly.
