Alison Uriel

Co-Clinical Director

Dr Alison Uriel has worked at the Regional Infectious Diseases Unit, Manchester since 2009, having previously spent seven years involved in HIV and viral hepatitis research at the Division of Liver Diseases, Mount Sinai Hospital, New York.

She is currently research Lead for the Infectious Diseases Unit, and has 2 NIHR roles, North West Regional Specialty Lead for Infection, and Co Clinical Director for the Commercial Research Delivery Centre: Greater Manchester.

She has been an Investigator on numerous commercial and academic sponsored studies at all phases of development, including trials evaluating novel therapies for HIV, Hepatitis B, C and Delta virus infections, COVID-19, non-Tuberculous mycobacterium and Clostridioides Difficile infection, and new vaccines and prophylactic therapies, including monoclonal antibodies, for prevention of Influenza, Sars CoV 2 and RSV infection.

Her special interest is in novel therapies for Hepatitis Delta infection, and to improve education, screening and access to care for members of vulnerable and underserved communities who are at increased risk of viral hepatitis
