Nawar Bakerly

Professor Nawar Bakerly has been a respiratory physician at the Northern Care Alliance (NCA) since 2007, and a practicing physician for over 30 years. He is also an academic working across Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester.

Over the past 20 years, Nawar led the transformation of COPD care across Salford, developing an integrated service model bringing primary and secondary care services together winning multiple national awards along the way. With innovation at the heart of his work, Nawar has developed one of the earliest models of virtual COPD care in the community utilising telemonitoring, as well as developing mobile phone apps to assist local clinicians in caring for their patients.

Nawar is very excited about the opportunities the CRDC will bring to provide the population of Greater Manchester with equitable and better care through enhancing research within the area, and he will be working with the CRDC team and colleagues to ensure equity of access and the delivery of research across all of our hospitals and partner sites providing care to our communities.
